Soul Winner's Crown

So Let's Rejoice and Go Fishin'!

Souls! Souls! Souls!

Why God Wants You to Be a Soul Winner

There are a number of scriptures proving God wants you sharing Jesus Christ with the lost. You see, whether you’re a doctor, pastor, teacher, accountant, lawyer, student or stay-at-home mom, you have been called to share Jesus Christ with the lost. Let‘s look at some scriptural reasons God would have you share Jesus Christ with the lost.

It is a Command of Jesus - “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Even though God might never commission you to leave your home to go to the nations as He did the eleven disciples, you still have been called to share Jesus Christ with the world around you. That world could be your school, job, the market place or wherever the opportunity to witness is made available.

According to 2 Timothy 4:2,5 you are to be “instant in season, out of season” doing the “work of an evangelist.” Anyone proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to others is by definition an evangelist.

Your Love for Jesus - “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Do you love Jesus? If you do, you should be obeying His command to win souls for the kingdom. If you don’t love Jesus enough to obey Him, then perhaps you’re not spending enough time with Him in God’s Word. Set aside a time each day to read and study His Word to develop your relationship with the Lord.

A Follower of Jesus - “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Are you a follower of Jesus? If you are, then you should be a fisher of men. If you’re not a fisher of men, then you need to spend more time in God’s Word to renew your mind with the promises of God. Meditate on the promises of God that will replace your apathy with a motivation to follow Jesus and see souls saved and delivered.

Jesus Said, “The Harvest Truly Is Great, but the Laborers Are Few” - “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2). As a follower of Christ, you should be a laborer in the harvest field helping to bring in the end time harvest of souls. Will you heed God’s call and help bring in the harvest of souls?

Jesus Was About His Father’s Business - “How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49). As a follower and imitator of Jesus Christ, you are to be about your “Father‘s business.” And the Father’s business is about souls being saved. After all, that’s why He sent His Son to the earth to reconcile men to God. Like God, your love for souls should be so great that you are compelled to share Jesus with the lost. If you’re not concerned about the destiny of lost souls, then you’re not pleasing God and you‘re not on fire.

The only cure for being lukewarm and unconcerned for the lost, is for God’s love, power and fire to flow through you. You may have the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, but do you have the power, the fire and the love of God? Ask the Father in Jesus’ name to baptize you in the Holy Ghost with power, fire and love according to Acts 2:2-4. The purpose of the fire is to burn out the carnality (works of the flesh) in your life that would hinder you from being all that God has called you to be, a mighty man or woman of God passionate for the Word, prayer and souls.

You’re Jesus Christ’s Ambassador - “Now then we are ambassadors of Christ“ (2 Corinthians 5:20a). As His ambassador, a representative of the kingdom of God, you are given the privilege and honor to lead lost sinners to the Lord so they can receive forgiveness of sins, be reconciled to God and partake of all the benefits of a son and heir of God. A new Christian convert receives God’s love, eternal life, peace, joy, health, victory, power and the Holy Spirit to fulfill God’s glorious plan for their life.

You’re to Do onto Others As You Would Want Done to You - “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise” (Luke 6:31). Ask yourself, if you were unsaved and falling into a fiery hell, wouldn’t you desperately want someone to throw you a life line, the gospel, to save your soul? Or what if you were not aware that according to 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 you could be left behind when the Rapture of the Church takes place? Wouldn't you want some warning and an opportunity to be saved to escape the horrible seven year tribulation coming to the earth immediately following the Rapture? As a soul winner, you do unto others as you would want done onto you. That means sharing the salvation message of Jesus Christ with the unsaved.

A Soul Winner’s Crown Awaits You - “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing: Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming” (1 Thessalonians 2:19)? Sharing Jesus Christ with the lost is not a vain, empty thing. No, you will receive in heaven a reward, a special crown of glory reserved only for soul winners. “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).

The list of God’s reasons for you sharing Christ with the lost could go on, but hopefully the reasons I have given you should stir your heart to be about your “Father’s business” of seeing lost souls come into the kingdom of God. God bless you as you reach out to the lost with God’s love, forgiveness and hope of glory.

Where to Fish for Souls

Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus, as well as any good fisherman, would tell you that to catch fish, you must go where the fish are. You would never fish in someone's bathtub or swimming pool. There are no fish there. You have to go where the fish are. You have to go where the people are. Where are the fish (souls)? Everywhere! Wherever there are people, there are people to be caught (won) to Jesus Christ.

Let me give you a list of some places you can consider and with your own imagination you might come up with some other hot fishing spots. Of course, always make sure it is lawful where you want to share Jesus Christ. When you can, especially if you are a girl or woman, go with a soul winning partner for safety:

Tips for Fishing Success

1. Set a Time to Go - Ideally, you should be on call 24/7. We are to "be instant in season, out of season." When you win souls to Christ, you are being obedient to God's call on your life. We as Christians are all called to be soul winners.

But starting out, pick a day or specific days to go. Saturday, Wednesday or whatever day or days work for you. When possible, go witnessing with a soul winning partner. If you are a girl or woman, use wisdom. You don't want to be put in a jeopardizing situation. If you can, always go with someone.

2. Be Aware of Souls - Always be ready to share Christ with whoever God brings across your path. "Be instant in season, and out" (2 Timothy 4:2).

3. Dress Neat and Clean - You are an ambassador for Christ. Respect your calling by dressing appropriately. And make sure you do not have bad breath.

4. Have a Pocket New Testament to Show Them Scriptures - Be ready to show the prospect what God has to say about them. Why not a big Bible? People can readily see a big Bible and it might turn them off and cause them to think you're a religious fanatic. You want a small pocket New Testament because it can be concealed until you are ready to use it.

5. Draw a Map in Your Small Pocket New Testament if You Use the Revised Roman's Road #2 Approach Listed Below Write the next chapter and verse you will go to at the top of the page. I'll explain: You would start off with Romans 3:23. At the top of that page you would write the next chapter and verse you would go to. That would be Romans 6:23. Highlight each verse so your prospect can readily see which verse you want them to see.

Below is an example of what you would do on the first page. At the top of left hand corner I have written the next page to go to, Romans 6:23. Then when you would go to Romans 6:23 there would be written at the upper left hand corner Romans 5:8. Written at the top left corner of Romans 5:8 would be the last scripture of the Roman Road, Romans 10:9. That's your four scripture map for the Revised Roman's Road. With just those four scriptures you can lead hundreds, thousands to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6. Ask God to Give You a Love for Souls - When you have a love for the lost, it's a glorious experience to see a soul come to Jesus Christ.

Very Important

7. Ask God to Baptize You in Holy Ghost power, fire and love - Any Christian can be used of God to win souls to Christ. But to be used mightily of God, to be a soul winning machine, you need the baptism of power, fire and love. I had the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, but I lacked the power, the fire and the love of God for souls to be super mega successful in winning souls to Christ. I tell you, when you're baptized in the Holy Ghost, fire and love, you'll become a soul winning nightmare to the Devil. Matthew 3:11 speaks of this mighty baptism of fire. Why is the baptism of fire needed? It burns out the fears and fleshly things in your life that would hinder you from fulfilling God's plan for your life. Seek the baptism of fire. Want more information on walking in God's power and fire? Go to my other site: Power and Fire

Very Important

8. Pray Each Day for Soul Winning Success - Prayer is a must for soul winning success. Daily ask God to give you boldness and protection as you walk in love. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear" (1 John 4:18a) and "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17a). Pray in faith (explosive expectancy) for God the Father in Jesus' name to give you divine appointments with people that will receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In Mark 11:24, Jesus says when you pray, you must believe you have received what you prayed for the instant you pray. That means when you pray for divine appointments, you must believe and expect God has heard your prayer and granted your request. So if you believe you receive (you have the title deed, the ownership for what you prayed for) the moment you pray, you will have divine appointments that very day! So, that is how you use your faith to have daily divine appointments to reach the lost with the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ.

9. Set a Goal - Determine how many souls you will win in a week. You can start out with one a week and then increase that number. Always give God the glory for your soul winning success.

10. Be Kind - Being kind and loving gives you favor with people.

11. Be Real - People don't want to hear a canned witnessing speech. Develop your own style. You can share your own personal salvation testimony.

12. Stick to the Subject - If the prospect gets on another subject, bring them back to the subject at hand, the destiny of their soul.

13. Salvation Tracts - Always have some tracts with you. Why? Giving someone a gospel tract is a great way to leave a silent witness (gospel tract) when there is no time for a conversation. Below are some gospel tracts you might consider.

Gospel Tracts

What Bait Should You Use?

A good fisherman will also tell you that knowing where the fish are is not enough to catch fish. You must have the right bait or they will not bite. If they do not bite, you won't catch any fish. A successful soul winner fishes with the right bait. That means the right approach. Below are three baits (approaches) that will catch, win souls to Jesus Christ:

Three Soul Winning Approaches

Try and Use All Three Approaches if You Like

Approach #1 - The 20 Second Quick Witness

Approach #2 - The Revised Roman's Road

Approach #3 - Are You a Good Person?

Approach #1

The 20 Second Quick Witness

"Be instant in season, out of season." 2 Tim. 4:2

If you see a person (grocery clerk, gas station attendant, etc.) on a regular weekly or daily basis, develop a friendly relationship with them first before you share Jesus with them. By developing a friendly relationship with them first, they will be more receptive to hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ. However, if you feel you will never see this person again, then share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Below are some witnessing examples to use when you know you have only seconds to say something and you will probably never see them again here on earth.

If there is no time to talk to a person, you can always leave them a soul winning tract. But what if you have twenty seconds to say something? Maybe you’re face to face with a checker at the grocery store checkout stand and he or she greets you with, “How are you.“ What do you say? Maybe the gas station attendant just finished washing your car windshields. What do you say? What do you do when you only have seconds to witness to a person and you probably never will see them again to develop a foundational friendly relationship with them? You give them a quick witness. That means you ask them one question and follow it up with the solution that will change their life forever. I give you four examples. Here is how it works:

Example #1

Saved or About to Be Saved?

This approach was given by an angel to an anointed minister of the gospel, the late Francis Hunter. She was sitting in a restaurant when an angel sat down at her table and asked her if she would like a tool for evangelism. She enthusiastically said yes. She did not know he was an angel until later.

He explained to her what the tool was and she used the evangelistic tool on her waitress. When the waitress came to the table of Francis, she shared the gospel with the waitress and the waitress prayed to receive Jesus Christ as her lord and savior.

This tool can be used almost anywhere to get someone saved. Just use wisdom as to where you feel it would be appropriate to share the gospel. Here is a list of some places you might share Christ:

Friends

Relatives

Your Neighborhood

Stores

Garage Sales

Family and Relatives

School or Work Cafeteria

Parks

Skate Parks

Entrances to Sporting Events

Beaches

Airports

Anywhere You Have the Opportunity

Below is the evangelistic tool in action used by Francis.

You: Do you know there are two types of (waiters, store clerks, students, garage mechanics etc.) working (or go) here? Those that are saved and those that are about to be saved. Which one are you?

Them: About to be saved.

If they say they are about to be saved and the place and time is appropriate, you lead them in a prayer to receive Jesus Christ as lord and savior. If there is not enough time, leave them a soul winning tract they can read to receive salvation when time for them permits.

Here is a simple prayer you can use for them to receive Jesus Christ as their lord and savior:

Heavenly Father, I know I’m a sinner needing forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. He was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. I now receive you Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Heavenly Father, give me the grace to turn from sin and daily read and obey the Bible. Thank you Jesus Christ for saving my soul. Amen.

Example #2

Is Your Name Written in the Book of Life?

You: By the way, is your name written in the book of life?

Them: I don’t know.

You: It’s important that your name is written in the book of life because the Bible says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). Receive Jesus Christ today as your Lord and Savior, read and obey God’s Word and your name will be written in the book of life.

After you share the Good News with them, leave them a soul winning tract to help them make their decision for Jesus Christ.

Example #3

Do You Have Hope?

Them: How are you?

You: I got saved and I now I will spend eternity in heaven. Do you have that hope?

Them: I'm not sure.

You: Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today, read and obey God's Word and you will know for sure you will spend eternity in heaven and not in the lake of fire.

After you share the Good News with them, leave them a soul winning tract to help them make their decision for Jesus Christ.

Example #3a

Do You Have Hope?

Them: How are you?

You: I'm saved and I will spend eternity in heaven. Do you have that hope?

Them: I'm workin' on it. Haven't made that decision yet.

You: Well, the bad news is if you died today without salvation, you would go to hell. The good news is if you would receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today and read and obey God's Word, you would spend eternity in heaven. Don't risk your salvation, make your decision today to follow Christ.

After you share the Good News with them, leave them a soul winning tract to help them make their decision for Jesus Christ.

Example #3b

Do You Have Hope?

Them: How are you?

You: I'm saved and I will spend eternity in heaven. Do you have that hope?

Them: I haven't given it any thought.

Example #4

If You Died Today, Would You Go to Heaven?

This actually happened to me in a checkout line at a store. A woman in front of me had a shopping basket with a huge bag of dog food. The Holy Spirit prompted me to speak to her. I said, "You must have a big dog?" She said, "I have two dogs." She said she didn't have any children, just her dogs. And she asked me if I had any children. This opened the door for me to go from talking about natural everyday things like dogs to spiritual things. This is how it went. I've changed a few things to make it work for you.

You: You must have a big dog.

Them: I have two dogs. I don't have any kids. Do you have kids?

You: No, but I'm saved and I will spend eternity in heaven. That's a blessing.

Them: You believe in God.

You: Yes. If you died today, would you go to heaven?

Them: I hope so.

You: To be assured you will go to heaven, you must put your trust in Jesus Christ, read and obey God's Word.

After you share the Good News with them, leave them a soul winning tract to help them make their decision for Jesus Christ.

Approach #2

The Revised Roman's Road

Using 4 Scriptures from the Book of Romans: Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8 and Romans 10:9

Start the Conversation in the Natural

When you come in contact with a potential convert, don't start off the conversation in the spiritual. Start the initial conversation about natural things and then lead into the spiritual. Say something about the present weather conditions, sports or whatever seems to feel right. If you start off in the spiritual, you could turn them off in a hurry.

After Talking of Natural Things, Switch to the Spiritual

You: May I ask you a question?

Them: Yes.

You: If you died today, do you know that you would go to heaven?

Them: I hope so.

You: Would you like to know you would go to heaven?

Them: Yes, I would.

You: If I showed you, would you do what the Bible says?

Them: Yes.

Obviously, if they say "No" and they are not interested in knowing how they can go to heaven, then be nice and move on. Pray for them and trust God they will come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. But continue with your presentation if they say "yes" to your questions.

Show Them They Are a Sinner from Your Pocket New Testament Bible (Romans 3:23)

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”(Romans 3:23).

Tell them we are called sinners because we have broken God's Law, the Ten Commandments.

To bypass their intellect and convict their conscience of sin, ask them about the Law.

You: Have you kept the Ten Commandments? Let's look at a few. The Third Commandment says, "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." Ever used the Lord's name as a cuss word?

Them: Yes.

You: The eighth Commandment says, "You shall not steal." Ever stolen anything?

Them: Yes. But that was when I was a child.

You: The Ninth Commandment says we are not to lie. Ever told a lie?

Them: Yes.

You: Those were only three commandments and there are seven more.

Show Them the Price for Committing Sins from Your Pocket New Testament Bible (Romans 6:23)

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

VERY IMPORTANT

Explain to them that "death" means eternal separation from God, eternal damnation. It means the sinner will be tormented for eternity in the lake of fire for breaking God's Law (Ten Commandments). According to James 2:10, breaking just one of God's Ten Commandments makes a person guilty of all the Commandments and will send that person to hell. Show them in Revelation 20:15 what will happen to a person if they have broken just one of the Ten Commandments.

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15).

VERY IMPORTANT

It is absolutely imperative the sinner understands how dangerous it is and how serious it is to live in sin. Your goal is for them to have a holy fear of God so they will repent of their sin and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Unless a person has a holy fear of God and a biblical fear of hell, sin will not be seen as the killing enemy and damning force it is.

Show Them Jesus Paid the Price for Their Sins from Your Pocket New Testament Bible (Romans 5:8)

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus Christ was the only one to never break one of the Ten Commandments.

Show Them How to Be Saved from Your Pocket New Testament Bible (Roman 10:9)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Ask them if they would like to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior

"Would you like to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so you know you will eternity in heaven and not in the lake of fire?" If they say yes, go to the next step.

Ask Them to be Sincere and Pray the Sinner’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know I’m a sinner needing forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. He was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. I now receive you Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Heavenly Father, give me the grace to turn from sin and daily read and obey the Bible. Thank you Jesus Christ for saving my soul. Amen.

But what if they slip and fall and make a sinful mistake? God has the answer:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Scriptures to Give Them the Assurance of Their Salvation

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 John 5:11-13 - And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Now Encourage Them to:

1. Read their Bible each day and obey what it says.

2. Pray each day and develop their relationship with God by spending a quite time with Him.

3. Be a soul winner and share their love for Jesus Christ with others so others can be saved.

"He that winneth souls is wise" (Proverbs 11:30b).

4. Be baptized in water showing their new life in Christ.

Approach #3

Are You a Good Person?

There is a right and wrong way to get people saved by sharing the Gospel. The wrong way to share the Gospel with people is to motivate them to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior by promising a happier and more prosperous life.

It is certainly true that God wants everyone saved and to experience a happier and more prosperous life, but the problem with this modern reward method is if everything doesn’t turn out better right away, people could be easily turned off, totally inoculated against the Gospel, refusing to follow Jesus Christ.

God’s way of sharing the Gospel with people is different from the "feel good" reward approach that could produce eternal disaster. Instead, the Law (Ten Commandments) is shared at the beginning of the witnessing presentation. The Law is the backbone of the Gospel presentation because it prepares the heart for grace, the Gospel.

Until sinners humble themselves by admitting their guilt of breaking God’s Law, they are not ready for the grace of the Gospel. The Church has been filled with way too many Christians leading spiritually unfruitful lives because they have not been confronted with the Law and the seriousness of breaking the Law. Breaking just one of the laws can send a person, saint or sinner, to hell if they do not repent. And hell is just a holding tank until they are thrown into the lake of fire, experiencing spiritual death.
"The wages of sin (breaking God's Law) is death" (Romans 6:23a).

But what about the happier and more prosperous life God has made available to the Christian? Do you not share this good news with them? Yes, but only after your presentation of the Law.

Taken from Ray Comfort's book, "The Way of the Master", there are four steps to remember when presenting the Law. These four steps are represented by four letters: WDJD. Each letter will represent a question you will ask the soul winning prospect:

W

Would you say you are a good person?

D

Do you think you've kept the Ten Commandments?

J

On Judgment Day, if God judges you by the Ten Commandments will you be found innocent or guilty?

D

Destiny - Will you go to heaven or hell?

WDJD stands for "What Did Jesus Do?" Just remember the question and the acronym (WDJD) to help you remember the four steps. To lead into the WDJD presentation you will need an approach first. We'll call it your "Contact." Let’s get started.

The Contact

Unless prompted by the Holy Spirit, you shouldn’t walk up to someone and immediately start talking about Jesus. It could be like shining a very bright light into their eyes? Very offensive. You need a more tactful approach. Start out in the natural realm (speaking about everyday things) and then switch to the spiritual realm (speaking about spiritual things). That is what Jesus did in John 4:7-26 with the woman at Jacob's well. He approached her with something natural (He asked the woman for a drink of water). Then He directed the conversation to spiritual things ("living water"). Below are a couple of contact approach examples to help you see the process in action.

Scenario #1

Witnessing to a Man Fishing at a Park Lake

Start the Conversation in the Natural

You:  Hello, fish biting?

John:  Yes, I've caught a couple of nice sized trout.

You:  What kind of bait are you using?

John:   Cheeze.
You:  Ever use fishing lures?

John:  Once in while I'll use a little spoon lure.

You:  By the way, are you familiar with this area?

John:  I live just a mile away.

Switch the Conversation to the Spiritual

You:  Do you know of a good church in the area?

After the contact is made you would share with the person the Law, the Gospel and the Cost.

Scenario #2

Witnessing to a New Neighbor on a Bench

Start the Conversation in the Natural

You:  Hello.

Mary:  Nice to meet you. My name is Mary.

You:  Are you new to this area?

Mary:  Yes. I moved from California.

You:  You certainly have some nice weather in California.

Mary:  Yes.

You:  Have you found where places are in this city? Stores and things?

Mary:  Pretty much.

Switch the Conversation to the Spiritual

You:   Have you a found a church yet?

After the contact is made you would share with the person the Law, the Gospel and the Cost.

The Law

After you have been successful with your approach (natural realm), it is now time to shift to the Law (spiritual realm). The Ten Commandments are God's standard of perfection. No one before Jesus Christ could keep the Ten Commandments because they had a fallen Adamic nature incapable of obeying the Law. That is why they had to have a priesthood that would offer up animal blood sacrifices that would temporarily cover their sin, protecting them from the curse for breaking God's Law.

Why is the Law such a powerful convicting agent? It is because the Law bypasses the intellect and penetrates the conscience, convicting the person of sin. Paul said, “Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet” (Romans 7:7).

To begin your presentation of the Law, ask them:

W: Would you say you are a good person?

Whether they say yes or no, ask them:

D: Do you think you've kept the Ten Commandments?

Whether they say yes or no, say:

Let’s look at a few.

You do not have to go through all Ten Commandments. Three is enough. I have listed here just four. Use the Commandments you feel would work best in your presentation.

9th Commandment

You might start with the ninth commandment ("You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor") because most people will admit to lying at least once. Ask them:

Ever told a lie?

If they say no, then ask them:

You never told not one lie when you were a child?

Eventually they should admit to lying. Ask:

What does that make you?

They should say, A liar.

8th Commandment

Next, try the 8th Commandment ("Thou shalt not steal") and ask them:

Ever stolen anything small or large?

Most people will say yes.

What does that make you if you have stolen something?

They should say, a thief.

7th Commandment

Now use the 7th Commandment ("Thou shalt not commit adultery") and ask them:

Ever commit adultery?

They will probably say no, but tell them, "Jesus said if someone looks at a woman to lust after her, he has committed adultery in his heart. Have you ever looked with lust after someone?" They will usually say yes to this.

What does that make you?

They should say, an adulterer.

3rd Commandment

You can use the 3rd Commandment ("Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain"). Ask them:

Ever taken the Lord's name in vain?

If they say no. Ask them:

You mean you have never used God's name in anger?

When they finally admit to using His name in vain say:

So, instead of using a four letter cuss word, you used His name to express anger. That is called blasphemy.

Use as many of the Ten Commandments as you feel necessary before going to the Gospel. Remember, you are using the Commandments to show them they are guilty before a holy God.

Note: Because Jesus Christ is our Sabbath (Hebrews 4:9-11), the forth commandment ("Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.") does not apply to the Christian today. Hence, this commandment is not used to convince a person of breaking one of God's laws. However, because He is our Sabbath, it does not give us the license not to go to church. Hebrews 10:25 makes it clear we are not to forsake “the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is.“ Now ask them:

J: On Judgment Day, if God judges you by the Ten Commandments, will you be found innocent or guilty?

If they say innocent, remind them they just told you they had broken God's laws.

By your own admission, you're a liar, a thief, an adulterer at heart, and a blasphemer . Will you be innocent or guilty?

If they still say they are innocent, tell them if they say they are innocent when the Bible declares them guilty for breaking God's laws, then they are calling God a liar. It is impossible for God to lie according to Hebrews 6:18. Ask them:

Won't you be honest and admit your guilt?

If they say:

But I have not done those things for a long time.

You say:

If you said that in a court of law, the judge would not ignore your crime. He would make sure justice was served and you were punished no matter how much time had elapsed. Will you be innocent or guilty?

If they say:

But I have done more good than bad.

You would answer:

It doesn't matter. In a court of law you are guilty of breaking the law, no matter how many good deeds you have done.

Ask:

Would you be innocent or guilty on God‘s Judgment Day ?

They might say:

But those are man's laws and God is different.

You would say:

That's right. God's standards are higher than the standards of a human judge. God loves justice and He has promised to punish all evil doers including murderers, rapists, liars, thieves, adulterers and blasphemers. You're in trouble, aren't you?

What if they admit their guilt but don't seem alarmed or concerned?

Your job is to get them alarmed and concerned because they are in great danger. Without being saved they will go to hell and eventually spend eternity in the lake of fire. Tell them when they stand before God on Judgment Day every secret thought both good and bad will be laid bear before God. Without the shed blood of Jesus to blot out their sins, they will be cast into the lake of fire. Ask them:

D: Destiny - Will you go to heaven or hell?

Most will say, "Heaven," but some will say "Hell." If they say, "Heaven," tell them in a court of law if you were standing trial for a crime with a $100,000 fine and you told the judge you were sorry and you would never commit that crime again, do you think the judge would let you go because you said you were sorry and would not commit that crime again. Of course not. There is a $100,000 fine to be paid. And God as judge must also punish you for breaking His laws. Justice must be served.

Does that concern you?

Tell them the Bible makes it very clear that your sins will send you to hell. Ask them:

Shouldn't that concern you?

If they say they are not concerned or show no signs of a desire for God's forgiveness, describe what hell is really like until until they reveal signs of concern. Tell them the Bible says hell is a place of torment, "their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44). In hell there shall be "weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Luke 13:28) and in the lake of fire "everlasting punishment" (Matthew 25:46). You will be eternally separated from God and all that is good.

If at this point they still seem proud and self-righteous, don't feel you must share the Gospel (the 3rd step) with them. Even Jesus did not present the Gospel to the rich young ruler because he needed first the law to humble him. Until a sinner humbles himself before God and admits he is guilty before God, he is not ready to receive the Gospel.

"God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble" (James 4:6).

Just pray that God will send the right Christian laborers to them and that the Holy Spirit will convict them of their sin and the need for the Savior.

The Gospel

Assuming they have humbled themselves by admitting they are guilty of breaking God’s Law, you can now present them with the “Good News,” the Gospel for them to get saved.

The Gospel is “the good news concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation.” Begin your gospel presentation by asking them:

Do you have any idea what God did for you so you would not have to go to hell? "God loved you so much that He provided a way for your sins to be forgiven by sending to the earth His only begotten Son to suffer, die on the cross and be raised from the dead by the glory of God so you could have eternal life. In a nutshell, you sinned by breaking God's Law and deserved the fine of death, but Jesus paid your fine though His own bloody death on the cross."

Tell them, "By repenting, turning from your sin and putting your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior you will be forgiven and be granted everlasting life. You will be born again, born of God. You will not have to go to hell, but you will spend eternity in heaven."

Now ask them if they understand what you have told them. If they are willing to confess they have sinned and are willing to turn from their sins and trust Jesus Christ for their eternal salvation, have them pray and receive Jesus Christ into their heart. Here is a prayer you can have them pray. You say the prayer and have them repeat it. Ask them to be sincere, praying with all their heart.

A Sinner's Prayer

Heavenly Father, I admit I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and resurrected on the third day. With your help I turn from all sin and now invite Jesus Christ into my heart. Help me to obey your Word as I follow Jesus Christ, the Lord of my life. Amen.

Tell them,"If you were sincere when you prayed that prayer, then you are saved and your name is written in the Book of Life in heaven."

God says in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).

The Cost

Share with them that if they are to trust Jesus Christ for their salvation, they must take this new life seriously. They must count the cost of being a follower of Jesus Christ. To be a disciple of Jesus Christ they must surrender their will to God and allow Him to become first place in their lives. They must die to their own self-will and take on God’s perfect will, living for Jesus and not for themselves.

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:30).

The good news is that now God, not the world, is to be their source for everything they would need or desire: peace, joy, love, wisdom, victory, humility, power, success, faith, health and more.

Jesus Christ stood for righteousness. As an ambassador of Jesus Christ to the world, the new Christian’s life is to exemplify the righteousness of Christ. That means they are to turn from sin. No more lying, cheating, lusting, hating, cussing, stealing or any other sin. “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). As a Christian, this is what we are all called to do, live a holy life.

But what if they slip and fall and make a sinful mistake? God has the answer:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

5. Be baptized in the power and fire of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:4. The Holy Ghost gives them the power to witness to the lost.

6. Thank, praise and worship the Lord with other believers in a Bible believing church.

7. Set aside a private time each day to praise, thank and worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

8. Above all, love God more than life and walk in love towards others and forgive others as Jesus Christ forgave you.

Last Thoughts Concerning You

John 16:23 says you can ask God the Father for anything in Jesus's name and He will give it to you. Ask God to give you soul winning boldness, wisdom, protection and success. Set a goal. Ask God to help you lead at least one soul to Jesus Christ each week. As your faith grows, ask that He would give you more souls each week. Above all, walk in love as you share God's plan of salvation. God bless you as you please the Father's heart by being a soul winner.

Ask God the Father in Jesus' name to baptize you in Holy Ghost power and fire with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:3-4 so you can walk in Mark 16:17-18:

"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:17-18).

You see, the Holy Ghost's fire will cause you to be a powerful and effective soul winner for Christ. Why? The fire burns away those things that would hinder you from being a mighty powerful witness and soul winner for Jesus Christ. Read the autobiographical writings of Charles G. Finney and Smith Wigglesworth, men who walked in God's power and fire. Watch and listen to Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne on youtube.com, another mighty man on fire for God. These men will inspire you.
